Patch 4.3 Fan Made Trailer

I think we all can agree Blizzard's offical Patch 4.3 Trailer was a bit ... dull. No voices, bad quality, overall pretty blunt.

Kilef from MMO-Champ has made his own version, by downloading Dragon Soul voice-overs, he edited the original and made an EPIC fan made trailer. Check it out below.

I think it's 10 times better than what Blizzard had done, I actually managed to catch goosebumps in the end, nothing like that from the original.

4.3 Customer Support Policy Spotlight

Patch 4.3 is bringing many gameplay features that have vastly changed the policies our support staff follow when answering your tickets. We wanted to give you a heads-up on what the new features are and how they may affect your characters.

Please keep in mind that what’s described below is our general policy. Every petition submitted to us is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and many factors are considered when making a final determination on the assistance we are able to provide.

Void Storage

Void Storage is a new feature that gives players the ability to store up to 80 items in long-term storage. Storing items using this feature will cost a set amount of gold, reinforcing the nature of the feature as a long-term storage option. Be aware that items stored are stripped of enhancements, like enchants, gems, sockets, reforged stats, and transmogrifications. Some items may also not be eligible for Void Storage, including crafting materials.

We want players to make responsible and thoughtful choices when utilizing Void Storage, and we require confirmation to help ensure that you are depositing items carefully. As you confirm these deposits and withdrawals, please take a moment to ensure that you want to proceed, as customer support will be unable to reimburse gold spent using the Void Storage system. In addition, enhancements lost due to Void Storage will also be ineligible for restoration, so store carefully!

Transmogrification

Transmogrification brings weapon- and armor-appearance customization to World of Warcraft! Like any item enhancement, utilizing this feature will bind the item to your character permanently.

Confirming a transmogrification on an item and thereby binding it to your character will prevent that item from being unbound, refunded, or exchanged by customer support. As with Void Storage, sufficient warnings and visual confirmations of your request are provided. For this reason, we urge you to please be careful when transmogrifying items!

Profession Specializations

With patch 4.3, players will be able to unlearn specializations associated with their primary professions. For example, alchemists who have specialized in Transmutation will be able to unlearn this focus in favor of another. Bear in mind that unlearning a specialization will remove all associated specialized recipes from your character’s spell book.

With all player decisions, we want there to be a measure of responsibility. However, we understand that some of the specialization-specific recipes are no longer available in-game. Should you unlearn a profession specialization and regret the decision, and should you petition in a timely manner and not learn a new specialization in the interim, our staff may be able to help restore recipes lost in this manner.

Raid Finder

Our policies for the Raid Finder will largely mirror our existing stances on player interaction and loot distribution. The standard loot distribution method of Need Before Greed has been altered for the Raid Finder to be more restrictive on what loot is appropriate to which players, and as a result, it leaves little room for loot disputes.

If you are unfamiliar with our current stance, be aware that customer support does not intervene with loot disputes. This means that the rightful winner of a piece of gear in a Raid Finder group is the one who is sent the item by the distribution system. To maintain a level of fairness and equality in these matters, customer support will be unable to redistribute loot either as a result of a dispute or at the request of a player who wishes to swap the item to another. As the two-hour trade timer will still be applicable in these situations, players can swap items between themselves should they decide to do so.

Fangs of the Father

Rogues will be provided with an opportunity to pursue some of the most legendary weaponry designed to date. The Fangs of the Father quest line will be an arduous journey for even the most seasoned adventurer.
In line with our previous policies regarding Legendary weapons, we want players to understand the weight of their decisions when pursuing them. As a result, customer support will be unable to assist in most situations involving the Fangs of the Father quest line. While all cases are taken on an individual basis, refunds, exchanges, or the trading of related items will largely be outside the scope of what our policies allow. Tread carefully, heroes!

The Darkmoon Faire

The Darkmoon Faire is changing in many ways and will vastly differ from what you may have previously experienced. New items, prizes, and games await the curious and bold, and we encourage our players to participate in every facet, from quests to the new Deathmatch Arena.

However, as any of the carnival folk will tell you, it’s every man for himself out there. Quest items acquired from dungeons are Bind-on-Pickup, and once the quest has been accepted, the item will no longer be able to be traded. Customer support will not intervene in swapping these items, as the two-hour trade timer is applicable prior to the quest being accepted. In addition, participants of the Deathmatch Arena should be aware that once begun, sanctuary from your opponents will not be granted. Players should be wary of entering the Arena unless they are prepared to duke it out to the death!

Guild Leadership

With the introduction of patch 4.3, guilds will have more control over their leadership in cases where the leader goes MIA. After 30 days have passed, guild leadership will be able to be passed to a high-ranking and active individual to help continue cultivating a guild’s progression.

With the introduction of this feature, customer support will no longer intervene in guild leadership disputes. The matters of leadership and guild organization are meant for the guild to discuss and arrange, and we want to stress that leadership decisions should be made after thoughtful contemplation for and by those involved.

Hour of Twilight

In the wake of the Cataclysm, Azeroth's champions rose up to thwart the forces of the maddened black Dragon Aspect, Deathwing. Thus far the world's defenders have shattered the power base of the Twilight's Hammer cult and defeated the raging elemental lords Al'Akir and Ragnaros. Yet despite these victories, as long as Deathwing is free to pursue his twisted goals, Azeroth will remain under threat.

No one is more aware of this fact than the great Dragon Aspects Alexstrasza, Nozdormu, Ysera, and Kalecgos. Together with the wise shaman Thrall, they have devised a plan to vanquish Deathwing with a weapon of his own design: the infamous Dragon Soul.

In patch 4.3, Thrall and the noble Aspects will call upon the Horde and the Alliance to help them retrieve the artifact--no longer in existence--from the distant past. Those brave enough to face the challenge will embark on a perilous journey from Azeroth's apocalyptic End Time to the Dragon Soul's point of origin during the catastrophic War of the Ancients. If the heroes succeed, an even more harrowing battle awaits them in the present....

  • New Dungeon: End Time
    • This new 5-player Heroic dungeon begins the quest to save all with a look at the desolate future of Azeroth, should its defenders fail to stop Deathwing.
  • New Dungeon: Well of Eternity
    • In this new 5-player Heroic dungeon, adventurers travel back 10,000 years in a brazen attempt to retrieve the Dragon Soul.
  • New Dungeon: Hour of Twilight
    • This new 5-player Heroic dungeon sets the final stage by bringing players face-to-face with the Twilight’s Hammer in present-day Dragonblight, where Thrall and the Dragon Soul must be safely escorted to Wyrmrest Temple so that the assault on Deathwing can commence.
  • New Raid: Dragon Soul
    • Players have the opportunity to take the fight to Wyrmrest Temple and beyond, assisting Thrall and the Dragon Aspects as they seek to bring an end to the Black Dragonflight once and for all. 10- and 25-person raids will get to take on Deathwing himself, with three levels of difficulty to consider and epic gear to claim.
  • New Baradin Hold boss: Alizabal
    • Alizabal presents an all-new boss challenge to player in 10- and 25-player arrangements who control Tol Barad. This boss will be available with the start of Season 11, one week after the release of patch 4.3.
  • New Legendary Item: Fangs of the Father
    • The most deadly and experienced rogues will play a central role in the fate of the world the rogue’s way: by manipulating key events from the shadows. Players will travel across continents to accomplish crucial missions of reconnaissance, burglary, infiltration and, of course, assassination. Rogues who succeed will receive a paired set of daggers that will become increasingly lethal as their bearer progresses along the legendary quest. At the height of their strength, they will be imbued with the vile essence of the Old Gods, as well as the maddened fury of the Black Dragonflight -- bestowing great power upon their bearer. These powers include a stacking increase to Agility which builds until dark wings unfurl from the rogue’s back, removing the combo point cost and increasing damage of finishing moves for a short time. In addition, the wings which can be spread on command (with no combat benefit) to slow a rapid descent, allowing the rogue to slowly fall to the ground… or enact a little death from above!
  • New Feature: Raid Finder
    • This new grouping feature allows players to quickly and easily form a pick-up raid for a specially tuned version of the current tier of endgame content: the Dragon Soul raid.
  • New Feature: Transmogrification
    • This new feature allows players to customize their gear like never before: copying the appearance of one magical item onto another.. You’ll find Transmogrification, Void Storage, and Reforging vendors in Cathedral Square, Stormwind and The Drag, Orgrimmar.
  • New Feature: Void Storage
    • In addition to the bank, players will now have access to a new "deep storage" system, allowing characters to free bag space by setting aside coveted gear. You'll find Transmogrification, Void Storage, and Reforging vendors in Cathedral Square, Stormwind and The Drag, Orgrimmar.
  • Reforging
    • The former Reforging vendors have been... retired. The ethereals have chosen to take over the business and joined their Transmogrification and Void Storage service providers. You'll find them in Cathedral Square, Stormwind and The Drag, Orgrimmar.
  • Darkmoon Faire
    • Make your way to Darkmoon Island during the first week of every month to take in the new Darkmoon Faire, complete with new quests, shows, games, recipes, toys, balloons, souvenirs, snacks, beverages, achievements, and titles.
  • Improved Outland & Northrend Quest Flow
    • The amount of experience needed to gain levels 71 through 80 has been reduced by approximately 33%.
    • Many Group quests in Outland and Northrend have been re-tuned to allow players to complete them solo. They are no longer labeled as Group quests.
    • Relevant questgivers have been moved into Outland and Northrend dungeons. The majority of dungeon quests for these zones are now available from within their respective dungeons.

Achievements

  • The achievement Master of Alterac Valley no longer requires the Alterac Valley Blitz achievement.
  • The achievement Tol Barad Veteran now requires 25 victories in Tol Barad, down from 100.

Classes: General

  • Vengeance for Protection warriors, Protection paladins, Blood death knights, and Feral druids has been redesigned slightly. It no longer ramps up slowly at the beginning of a fight. Instead, the first melee attack taken by the tank generates Vengeance equal to 33% of the damage taken by that attack. In addition, as it updates periodically during the fight, it's always set to at least 33% of the damage taken by the tank in the last 2 seconds. It still climbs from that point at the rate it did previously, still decays when damage is not taken, and still cannot exceed a maximum based on the health and Stamina of the tank.
  • Threat generated by classes in active tanking modes has been increased to 500% damage done, up from 300%. This applies to druids in Bear Form, death knights in Blood Presence, warriors in Defensive Stance, and paladins with Righteous Fury active.
  • Spells which have an effect broken by taking damage past a threshold (Entangling Roots, Fear, Frost Nova, etc.) now count damage that was prevented by damage absorbs or other damage reducing effects.
  • Buffs
    • All raid and party buffs which grant group members 10% increased attack power have been changed slightly. They continue to provide 10% increased ranged attack power, but now provide 20% increased melee attack power.
      • Abomination's Might: The melee attack power bonus from this raid buff has been increased to 10/20%, up from 5/10%. The ranged attack power bonus remains 5/10%.
      • Blessing of Might: The melee attack power bonus from this raid buff has been increased to 20%, up from 10%. The ranged attack power bonus remains 10%.
      • Runescroll of Might: The melee attack power bonus from this consumable has been increased to 16%, up from 8%. The ranged attack power bonus remains 8%.
      • Trueshot Aura: The melee attack power bonus from this raid buff has been increased to 20%, up from 10%. The ranged attack power bonus remains 10%.
      • Unleashed Rage: The melee attack power bonus from this raid buff has been increased to 10/20%, up from 5/10%. The ranged attack power bonus remains 5/10%.

Death Knights

  • Death Strike now heals the death knight whether or not the attack misses, or is dodged/parried. As a result of this change, Death Strike no longer refunds its rune cost if it fails to hit the target, as the death knight will still receive the healing effect.
  • Blood Presence now provides an armor bonus of 55%, up from 30%.
  • Death Knight pets now properly inherit their master’s crit and spell penetration stats.
  • Talent Specializations
    • Blood
      • Blade Barrier has been redesigned. It now passively reduces damage taken.
      • Bone Shield now has 6 charges, up from 4.
      • Veteran of the Third War now reduces the cooldown of Outbreak by 30 seconds.
    • Unholy
      • The gargoyle called by Summon Gargoyle should exclusively use its ranged attack regardless of range to the target.
      • Unholy Might now increases Strength by 25%, up from 20%.

Druids

  • Wrath has a new spell effect.
  • Hurricane has a new updated visual effect.
  • Swipe (Cat) has been reduced to 340% weapon damage, down from 415%.
  • Bear Form now provides an armor bonus of 120% at all levels, up from 65% for characters below level 40, making it easier for lower level druids to tank dungeons.
  • Bear Form now provides a Stamina bonus of 20%, up from 10%.
  • Talent Specializations
    • Balance
      • Celestial Focus now also reduces Cyclone spell pushback.
    • Restoration
      • Wild Growth healing has been reduced by 20%.
      • Nature’s Focus now also reduces Cyclone and Entangling Roots spell pushback.
  • Glyphs
    • Glyph of Shred has been renamed Glyph of Bloodletting, and now also causes Mangle (Cat) to extend the duration of Rip, in addition to its existing Shred functionality.
    • Glyph of Wild Growth now also increases the cooldown on Wild Growth by 2 seconds.

Hunters

  • Monstrous Bite now reduces the target’s healing received by 25%, up from 10%.
  • Talent Specializations
    • Beast Mastery
      • Animal Handler now increases Attack Power by 30%, up from 25%.
      • Widow Venom now reduces the target’s healing received by 25%, up from 10%.
      • Burrow Attack now does approximately 20% more damage, and has an increased area of effect.
      • Froststorm Breath now does approximately 20% more damage, and has an increased area of effect.
    • Survival
      • Explosive Shot damage has been increased by 15%.

Mages

  • Mages
    • Pyroblast’s initial damage has been increased by approximately 26%, and its damage over time has been increased by approximately 100%.
    • Fireball damage has been increased by approximately 17%.
    • Talent Specializations
      • Fire
        • Living Bomb damage over time has been increased by approximately 10%, and explosion damage has been increased by approximately 120%.

Paladins

  • Holy Radiance now has a 3.0-second cast time, no cooldown, and requires a player target. That target is imbued with Holy Radiance, which heals them and all group members within 10 yards instantly, and continues to heal them by a smaller amount every 1 second for 3 seconds.
  • Seal of Insight, when Judged, no longer returns 15% base mana to the paladin. Judging Seal of Insight still causes damage, and melee attacks will still restore 4% of base mana.
  • Seal of Truth, when Judged, now benefits from a multiplier of 20% per stack of Censure, up from 10%.
  • Talent Specializations
    • Holy
      • Clarity of Purpose now also reduces the cast time of Holy Radiance.
      • Illuminated Healing (mastery) now also applies to Holy Radiance.
      • Infusion of Light now applies its cast time reduction from Holy Shock critical effects to Holy Radiance, in addition to its current effects.
      • In addition to providing haste, the effect from Judgements of the Pure now increases mana regeneration from Spirit by 10/20/30% for 60 seconds.
      • Light of Dawn now affects 6 targets (base effect), up from 5.
      • Paragon of Virtue now lowers the cooldown of Divine Protection by 15/30 seconds, up from 10/20 seconds.
      • Speed of Light no longer triggers from Holy Radiance and no longer lowers the Holy Radiance cooldown. Speed of Light now only triggers from Divine Protection.
      • Tower of Radiance, in addition to its current effects, now also causes Holy Radiance to always generate 1 charge of Holy Power at all times.
      • Beacon of Light is triggered by Word of Glory, Holy Shock, Flash of Light, Divine Light and Light of Dawn at 50% transference and Holy Light at 100% transference. It does not transfer Holy Radiance, Protector of the Innocent or other sources of healing.
    • Retribution
      • Sanctified Retribution now increases the critical hit chance of Hammer of Wrath by 2/4/6%, down from 20/40/60%.
      • Two-Handed Weapon Specialization (passive) now increases damage by 25%, up from 20%.
  • Glyphs
    • Glyph of Light of Dawn now lowers the number of targets to 4, instead of increasing targets to 6, but increases healing by 25%.

Priests

  • Divine Hymn now affects 5 targets, up from 3.
  • Talent Specializations
    • Discipline
      • Atonement will now account for the target enemy's combat reach when calculating proper range, enabling it to be used on large creatures such as Ragnaros and Ala'kir.
      • Divine Aegis has a new spell effect.
    • Holy
      • Spirit of Redemption has been rebuilt to address a few functionality issues and make it more responsive. Spirit of Redemption otherwise remains unchanged.
      • State of Mind has been redesigned and is now called Heavenly Voice. Heavenly Voice increases the healing done by Divine Hymn by 50/100%, and reduces the cooldown of Divine Hymn by 2.5/5 minutes.
      • Guardian Spirit’s healing bonus has been increased to 60%, up from 40%.
      • Holy Word: Serenity now has a cooldown of 10 seconds, down from 15 seconds.
  • Glyphs
    • Glyph of Circle of Healing now also increases the mana cost of Circle of Healing by 20%.

Rogues

  • Wound Poison now reduces the target’s healing received by 25%, up from 10%.

Shaman

  • Flametongue Weapon no longer increases spell damage. It now increases all non-physical damage done by the wielder by 5%.
  • Lightning Bolt has a new spell effect.
  • Wind Shear’s base cooldown has been adjusted to 15 seconds, up from 6 seconds.
  • Talent Specializations
    • Elemental
      • Call of Flame no longer causes Fire Nova to extend the duration of Flame Shock.
      • Earthquake damage has been increased by roughly 75%.
      • Elemental Fury now removes the cooldown from Chain Lightning.
      • Reverberation now reduces the cooldown of Wind Shear by 5/10 seconds, up from 0.5/1 second.
      • Shamanism now increases the spell power benefit to Lightning Bolt, Lava Burst, and Chain Lightning by 36%, up from 32%.
      • Fire Elemental now benefits from 55% of its master’s spell power, up from 50%
    • Enhancement
      • Improved Lava Lash now causes Lava Lash to spread a Flame Shock debuff from the target to up to 4 nearby targets. This excludes crowd-controlled targets and those who already have a Flame Shock debuff from the shaman.
      • Improved Lava Lash no longer increases base Lava Lash damage by 15/30%. This increase has been rolled into the base Lava Lash skill.
      • Mental Quickness has been redesigned. Instead of granting the shaman spell power, Mental Quickness now causes Enhancement shaman spells to behave as though the shaman has spell power equal to 55% of attack power. Enhancement shaman spells no longer benefit from spell power from other sources.
      • Maelstrom Weapon can now also proc from fully absorbed melee attacks.
    • Restoration
      • Ancestral Healing now also causes the shaman's heals to increase the target's maximum health by 5/10% of the amount healed, up to a maximum of 10% of the target's maximum health, for 15 seconds. This effect does not stack if multiple Restoration shaman are present, and does not apply to heals from procs.
      • Riptide's periodic healing coefficient has been increased by 50%. The initial direct heal is unchanged.

Warlocks

  • Shadow Bolt has a new spell effect.
  • Soul Fire now scales with 72.6% of spell power, up from 62.5%.
  • The Voidwalker ability Suffering now works like the hunter pet talent Taunt.
  • Talent Specializations

      • Master Demonologist now grants a base bonus of 20%18.4% and 2.5%2.3% per mastery, up from 16% and 2% per mastery.
      • Impending Doom is now also activated by Soul Fire.
    • Destruction
      • Fire and Brimstone now increases the damage of Incinerate and Chaos Bolt on Immolated targets by 5/10/15%, up from 2/4/6%.
      • Burning Embers now deals damage equal to 25/50% of Soul Fire and Imp’s Firebolt, up from 15/30%.
      • Buning Embers damage cap has been raised.
      • Shadowburn now deals Shadowflame damage, instead of Shadow damage.
      • Improved Soul Fire now lasts 20 sec, up from 15sec.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a bug that caused Doomguard and Infernal to benefit dramatically more than intended from Demonology Mastery.

Warriors

  • Charge (and related abilities) should now correctly path to a target even if the target moves during the Charge. This change should decrease the likelihood of the warrior Charging to a different location than the target.
  • Slam now uses a new character attack animation.
  • Colossus Smash now uses a new character attack animation.

      • Mortal Strike now reduces the target’s healing received by 25%, up from 10%.

Dungeons & Raids

  • Dungeon Journal entries have been added for the new dungeons: End Time, Well of Eternity, Hour of Twilight, and Dragon Soul.
  • Players who use Dungeon Finder for a random Heroic dungeon will no longer be locked to that instance. Previously, players who entered an instance via the Random Dungeon option were then prohibited from queuing for that dungeon or entering the instance manually via the portal. Players should now always be able to complete a specific Heroic dungeon once per day regardless of any random dungeons completed.
  • Ruins of Ahn'qiraj
    • Bosses in Ruins of Ahn'qiraj now drop a rare-quality Scarab Coffer Key which can be used to open the Scarab Coffers found within. These keys are zone-bound to Ruins of Ahn'qiraj and have a 17-hour expiration. This change also applies to Greater Scarab Coffer Keys used to open Large Scarab Coffers.
  • Zul’Gurub
    • Players now only have to kill two of the four initial dungeon bosses (High Priest Venoxis, Broodlord Mandokir, High Priestess Kilnara, and Zanzil) to face Jin’do the Godbreaker.
  • Zul’Aman
    • Players now only have to kill two of the four Troll avatars before they may face Hex Lord Malacrass.

Guilds

  • Guild Standards are again useable in Firelands. Duration has been increased to 15 minutes, the effect has a 100 yard radius, and now affects dead players.
  • Inactive Guild Leader Replacement

Items

  • Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest: The chance for this item’s effect to be triggered has been reduced.

Races

  • The orc racial Blood Fury now increases spell power rather than only spell damage.

User Interface

  • Archaeology areas of interest will now show on the mini-map, in addition to the World Map.
  • Bag Search
    • A search field has been added to allow players to search bag, bank, guild bank, and Void Storage inventories for specific items.
  • The Reforging interface has been updated and improved.
  • Quest Tracking areas or points of interest will now show on the mini-map, in addition to the World Map.
  • The World Map now displays the expected character levels for each zone.
  • Added a “promote everyone” checkbox that will automatically make all raid members, Raid assistants. This checkbox can be found in the Raid Frame and the Unit Frame “pull-out” tab.
  • There are now commands for world markers & unit markers.
  • Added new rotation, zoom, and pan controls are now available in all windows with player models in UI frames.

PvP Season 10 Ending Soon

Arena and Rated Battleground Season 10 will have ended as of November 29. We will then determine who is eligible for the end-of-season rewards, a process that should take approximately one week. It's very important for players who feel that they may be eligible for Arena titles and/or the Ruthless Gladiator’s Twilight Drake to refrain from transferring their characters to another realm or faction until Season 10 officially ends after maintenance is finished on November 29. During the break between seasons, all Rated Battleground and Arena matches will be unavailable.

At the end of Season 10, Conquest Points will be converted to Honor Points, which offers the possibility of temporarily exceeding the normal 4,000 Honor Point cap. For the week, all Season 10 items will become available for Honor Points (at prices equivalent to their previous Conquest Point cost), with the exception of any items with rating requirements attached. Those items will no longer be available for purchase.

Arena and Rated Battleground Season 11 will begin for level-85 players approximately one week after the end of Season 10 on December 6. Season 10 titles and mounts will be awarded at that time. Also, new and more powerful items will become available for purchase with Honor Points after maintenance on that date, and any Honor accrued above the 4,000-point cap will be converted into gold at a rate of 35 silver per point. Finally, Season 11 rewards will be made available for purchase with Conquest Points which are earned during the new season.

All Team, Personal, and Matchmaking Ratings will be wiped when Season 11 begins.

Warlock Guide for 4.3 Normal Modes

This patch 4.3 Dragon Soul Warlock guide was written to offer you guidance through the first seven bosses in normal mode Dragon Soul and should contain relevant information for both raid sizes and all three specs. If you should find incorrect information or your questions unanswered just make a post and I'll try to look into it.

Talents: Currently all Warlock specs are fairly balanced and only marginally differ in output potential in a patchwerk scenario. None of the specs can be classified as non-viable, and you should use your best judgement when choosing a spec: Consider which spec you're most comfortable with, which spec is most beneficial to your raid group and which spec might work best at the current boss.

The spec itself is rather set-in-stone and there isn't much you can change without a cost.

Note that the ideal single-target spec has changed a bit since the Incinerate buffs in 4.3: You can now ditch Bane for 3/3 Improved Corruption and stop using Shadow Bolt completely, making the spec somewhat easier to play. You can also set the talent points between Demonic Embrace, Fel Synergy, Demonic Rebirth, Demonic Aegis, Master Summoner, Demonic Empowerment and Aura of Foreboding as you best see fit. Note that with the higher amount of Impending Doom procs you will be getting with the Incinerate filler and haste from Dragon Soul gear you can eventually ditch Moonwell Chalice. Also worth mentioning (just because some people don't seem to know it): Felhunter is the best single-target DPS pet by a huge margin. Use it.

The spec for for Destruction is almost as inflexible as that of Affliction, but you can optionally put 1/2 or 2/2 in Fel Synergy and have one free Major Glyph slot (or maybe even two as you won't need to Life Tap much.) Note that glyph of Incinerate is still not worth it.

Glyphs: Not much flexibility in here. Use the standard Prime Glyphs for all specs in all situations. Glyphing Soul Link is often recommended. Glyph of Shadowflame is useful on maybe one boss.

Tier pieces: Both bonuses are strong for all specs and especially if you're playing Demonology you'll want to try and rush 2x T13 as soon as possible to make Doomguard available for most if not all boss attempts.

 

Introduction: A solid and easy fight for a Warlock, not only will you find yourself constantly at Shadowflame range but you'll also have much easier time with the incoming damage than most classes.

Spec: Demo/Your preference

Glyphs: Glyph of Soul Link recommended, Glyph of Healthstone if you have free slots.

The fight and tips: Keep yourself close enough for Shadowflame but not too close to take amplified damage from stomps. You can and should go soak Resonating Crystals. When you get pulled to the boss for the Black Blood of the Earth, run away from the boss while casting Shadowflame and refreshing you DoTs and run behind the nearest pillars. If the pillar is close, you can just stand ~10 yards behind it and cast at the boss, if there's two next to each other you can stand between them and cast and if neither is true you should be able to stand near the black slime behind the pillar and have LoS without getting hit.

Mind that the Resonating Crystal deals Shadow Damage, so a Shadow Ward might save you on a tight spot. Also switching to Demon Armor could help if your raid is struggling to stay alive as the additional armor reduces stomp damage on top of the extra healing taken, but this obviously costs you some damage output. Good execute specs (Affli, Demo) help you deal with the soft enrage faster.

 

Introduction: Yor'sahj is a boss of moderate movement, heavy AoE and priority targeting. This might seem confusing at first, but simply follow any instructions given to you by your raid leader and you should do fine.

Spec: Demo

The fight and tips: Stand close to the boss at Shadowflame range until the boss starts summoning his Globules, and go for the one you're being told to if you don't know how they should be prioritized. Make sure the Globule that is being focused doesn't reach the boss at any cost, then get ready to deal with the Globules that got through.

If the Cobalt Globule got through, you'll have to deal with the Mana Void, and should place it as your #1 priority. Life Tap once to get your mana back and nuke it down. If they die fast enough you don't need to DoT them up much, but if you're Affli you can Soul Swap from the boss before the Mana Void Spawns. You don't need to care about being close to the Mana Void as you always have your Mana Feed and Life Tap.

After the Mana Void has been dealt with, if there was one, you'll often find the room filled up with Forgotten ones from the Dark Globule. Use your AoE abilities, especially Shadowflame, to deal with them and make sure you've got Felstorm for them if you're playing Demo.

You'll also need to be aware of the Crimson Globule which requires you to stand near the boss to not take too much damage.

 

Introduction: Zon'ozz is fairly simple on normal, just mind your positioning and do as you're told. There'll be moderate damage incoming periodically through the fight, but nothing you should really be concerned of as a Warlock. Most important thing is to never stand in front of the boss when Psychic Drain is incoming and not to mess up the bounces on Void of the Unmaking.

Spec: Demo/Your preference

The fight and tips: The bouncing strategy might vary a lot, so pay attention to whatever instructions you'll be given. Make sure you get hit by the splash when the Void is being bounced.

When the Void is taken into the boss you'll have a good time to pop your cooldowns and focus on doing damage, but don't completely ignore your health: Pop your Healthstone if you go low or use Shadow Ward. If you're Destruction Nether Protection cuts incoming damage a lot in this phase, make use of it if your healers are having hard time.

 

Introduction: Hagara is a bit of an all-around boss with heavy movement, some AoE and multi-targeting and from moderate to heavy incoming damage.

Spec: Demo is a good spec to default to, but if you're not too confident you probably should play whichever spec you're most comfortable with in here.

The fight and tips: As your mitigation as a warlock is good, you should move to soak Ice Lances immediately if you see them streaming into melee. When the Ice Tombs are coming make sure you're not one of them and then deploy your AoE arsenal to the tombs. Shadowflame is exceptionally good, you can even hit the boss as well as the shards if you land it carefully.

During Frozen Tempest, you can simply run around the platform (as close to center as possible without running into the wall) while dodging falling things and DoTting up the Binding Crystals. Just assign your pet on one crystal, throw Corruption and Banes while running and stop briefly to drop UA/Immolate and keep running while deploying instant casts like Soulburn: Soul Fire and Shadowflame on the crystals. You can skip one wave of Ice by having your Demonic Circle down somewhere and teleporting over a wave. Just remember that being alive is preferable to being dead so don't risk a death just for getting a little bit of damage on a crystal.

During Lightning Storm you'll just need to be wary of the incoming damage. If you have an assigned spot in forming of your Lightning Conduit, you can easily mark it with your teleport and get into your spot quickly.

And obviously try to have your cooldowns and potion ready when Hagara goes into increased damage state after a Lightning Storm.

 

Introduction: The mandatory patchwerk-with-a-twist of this patch, Ultraxion is a boss where you'll only need to do your best complete standstill DPS and damage mitigation. Also you'll conveniently spend the entire fight at Shadowflame range.

Spec: Demo/Your preference. 6 Minute enrage makes having more than one Doomguard impossible even with the set bonus, so this boss should be fairly balanced between different specs.

The fight and tips: Fiddle with your addons to make sure you never miss Hour of Twilight casts and Fading Light and you'll never have be the source of you raid leader's hair loss. You don't need to take one step during the entire boss fight and the only way you can screw up as DPS is by failing at those two abilities which are both dealt with the magical Heroic Will button.

You'll get pushed out of the Heroic Will realm as soon as the damage instance is meant to occur on Hour of Twilight, so as a confident DPS player you could take minor risks to improve your output by spending less time in Heroic Will, but don't overextend or you'll end up as your guilds laughing stock.

If your guild needs players to soak up the Hour of Twilight, you can do this fairly easily if you spec Destruction and pop Nether Ward well before the cast starts so it'll proc Nether Protection: Shadow and you'll have 30% + 25% mitigations on top of 2/3 Demonic Embrace and hopefully some damage absorption provided by your healers. You can also pop Soulburn: Healthstone for a Last Stand effect but it'll be a DPS loss and you'll have to remember that you can't use that if you're full on health as you can't Healthstone then.

When the damage gets hard remember to pop your Healthstone and tell your guild to do the same. Afterwards you can browse combat logs or Recount and find out who didn't use any and frown upon them.

 

Introduction: Lots of targets, bursty damage. Mind your positioning and target priorities and you'll get along just fine.

Spec: Affliction/Your preference

The fight and tips: Strategy might vary a bit between guilds. DoT up the Twilight Elites and switch to the Twilight Assault Drakes as soon as they get pulled in, and be sure to re-apply DoTs when they fly back up if they don't seem to die. Remember to keep your pet on the ground targets unless you play Destruction. Soak up the Twilight Barrages, but even as a Warlock you shouldn't try to tackle them alone, you'll die if you don't get a lucky resist. Be ready to move out for the Twilight Onslaught and deal with the Twilight Sappers.

Key to maximum output is keeping your DoTs rolling on as many targets as possible, but you still need to focus the Assault Drakes and Sappers and soak the Twilight Onslaught or you'll end up wiping. When P2 begins simply deal with Goriona, and then DPS the boss while traditionally avoiding any fire on the ground.

Glyphs: On top of Glyph of Soul Link, you might want to use Glyph of Shadowflame on this one as it works on the Twilight Sappers. Best part is it works even while the Sapper is invisible so you can just estimate their path and land a Shadowflame and they'll be snared hard before they reappear.

 

Introduction: A literal roller coaster with a lot of damage, target-switching and repetition. Not paying attention can lead to a huge mistake, but you should do well with a warlock of any spec.

Spec: Demo/Your preference

The fight and tips: Make sure you're hitting the right targets at right times and you're holding tight onto your ticket when the conductor comes. When you DPS the Hideous Amalgamations make sure you've got the lonely Corruption tentacles in your focus so you can switch to them as soon as they cast Fiery Grip. Don't hit Corrupted Bloods until you're told to or you'll cause some trouble. Don't burn your cooldowns on the Amalgamations but save them for the Burning Tendons, and be sure to Soul Swap off the Amalgamations before they die if you're Affliction.

Obviously use all your cooldowns on the Burning Tendons and any defensive abilities on Nuclear Blasts. Use Shadowflame a lot, it does massive damage on this boss. Make sure your pet isn't idle but hitting the right targets at all times.

The Warlock is a strong class in every boss of Dragon Soul with solid output and awesome survivability. Don't set too much store for patchwerk simulations but use your own sense when choosing the spec to raid with, technically they're all at least situationally viable on all bosses.

Hunter Guide for 4.3 Normal Modes

This is the hunter guide for Dragon Soul normal modes by Rinku. Even when hunters won't possibly be shining in the upcoming patch, here are some thoughts on how to squeeze as much as possible out of our class . This post doesn't take a position on which spec you should play. All the encounters mentioned are based on PTR experience and can vary from how they will be when released.

Tier 13 set bonuses:

2-piece set bonus is really strong. Switch to 2pt13 immediately, even if it means downgrading from 391s to 384s.
4-piece set bonus looks good, how good it really is can't be said as the ICD and proc rate have not yet been reliably confirmed. Most definitely it will be worth picking.

Time will tell how we will do DPS wise. Our biggest problems at the moment are our minimum range limitations and lack of passive damage reduction or proper barkskin abilities, which makes us the most fragile class in the game.

Hints for all bosses in general:
Do you need to move fast? Use Disengage.
Taking a lot of damage? Try to keep up Glyph of Raptor Strike buff. Deterrence does not seem to function with most of the abilities.

 

Introduction: A fight with quite a lot of movement. Our advantage here is mobility offered by disengage. As a ranged class we can keep DPSing during Black Blood of the Earth. Single-target.

Deterrence: Doesn't seem to work for anything.

The fight and tips: Most important thing to note about this fight is the hunter unfriendly hit box combined with the Stomp soaking mechanic that requires you to stand close to boss. Instead of Ragnaros or Majordomo kind of luxury where you are able to shoot standing next to boss, it's once again a matter of finding the correct orbit. Aim where you get knocked with crystals. If healing seems dodgy raptor strike before each Stomp.

During Black Blood of the Earth use disengage to quickly find cower and try to find the sweet spot where you can fire without taking damage. This phase is probably the safest time to pop your second rapid fires as you don't have to move right away.

 

Introduction: Movement. Standstill phases vary based on your orb combinations from heavy damage, AOEing adds to single target nuking. Hunters will do fine on this fight IF you survive Searing Blood.

Deterrence: Doesn't seem to work for anything.

The fight and the tips: Disengage for faster movement to the spawning globules. Pop CDs during standstill phase unless you really need them to down a globule before it reaches boss. If it seems you can't survive Searing Blood try to use raptor strike, if the damage is still unbearable go stand in the middle of the boss and suffer the dps loss.

 

Introduction: Some movement to soak orbs and probably to pile up for phase 2-healing. Single-target.

Deterrence: Doesn't seem to work on anything.

The fight and the tips: Not much to say, press your buttons to max dps, use disengage for quicker movement. The later you time your cooldowns the more damage you deal due to the mechanic of the boss. It increases damage taken by him the further the fight goes on.

 

Introduction: Plenty of movement, damage soaking. Pet control. Single-target.

Glyphs: Kill Shot - it's easy to doupletap kill shots to binding crystals while running around the circle.

Aspect of Pack - you can put on aspect of pack to speed up your guildies, however it means you really can't dps yourself. And that they die if they fail with Icicle.

Deterrence: Doesn't seem to work for anything.

The fight and the tips: During normal phase you will probably have to soak some damage.

Disengage can be a life saver if you are in danger of falling too much behind during frost phase - don't worry you can't drop off the platform. Masters Call can be used to grant you slow immunity, thus allowing you to run through frost traps. To maximize dps you can put your pet to hit a single crystal while you run around.

Aspect of the Wild can be used during Lightning phase to reduce the raid damage. It's recommended to leave your pet hitting Hagara during lightning phase as the power surges didn't seem to function properly with pets. Pop rapid fire after phases when Hagara is taking +100% damage.

 

Introduction: A target dummy. Hunters can soak here.

Deterrence: IT WORKS ! Yup, hunters can and will soak Hour of Twilight with deterrence.

The fight and the tips: Go to Keybindings and bind Special Action Button 1. Press the Action Button when needed. As hunter you will probably have to soak every third Hour of Twilight.

To maximize dps roll face on the keyboard as hard as you can and pray you get as few Fading Lights as possible. Don't pop CDs when Hour of Twilight is near. Prepot when the lightnings around the boss disappear.

 

Introduction: Plenty of movement, plenty of target swapping, plenty of damage soaking. Requires pet control.

Deterrence: Doesn't seem to work for anything.

The fight and the tips: Assign your pet to attack the melee adds and move to your sector to soak and primarily focus the drakes whenever they are close enough. Immediately switch to Sappers whenever they spawn. You can slow them with concussive shot.

Do not use frost trap - it hides the bomb graphics.

Disengage is handy when avoiding the AoE abilities of phase 2.

 

Introduction: Quite little movement. Plenty of target swapping, but main focus on single target.

Deterrence: Works for avoiding damage from Burst. (Corrupted Blood explosion)

The fight and the tips: You can start attacking the Corruptions while still in air. Most of the fight will be spent DPSing Hideous Amalgamation and regularly swapping target to interrupt the Fiery Grip cast by Corruptions. Pop rapid fire when Burning Tendon appears.
